Recycle, Re-use, Reduce !

(Year 6 English)

The pupils in Year 6 have been researching, planning, drafting/re-drafting and performing speeches in class to convince people about the importance of recycling, reusing and reducing. They have learnt terms such as carbon footprint, sustainable energy and landfill.

They are currently writing letters, some of which we hope to send to Hounslow Council to convince people in the local area to sort their waste into recyclable and non-recyclable bins, avoiding any contamination.

The pupils have had to consider vocabulary that will persuade people, whilst remaining facts-focused.

Diya M and Cherif (Mulberry Class) particularly enjoyed this theme, as they both like animals and worry that many animals are becoming endangered and may eventually become extinct.

All pupils in Year 6 also eagerly took part in a ‘litter pick’ around the school site.
