SIMMS Science on Show

Science show 1_result

During Berkeley Science Week, children competed in a science competition to celebrate and showcase their ‘mastery of science’ knowledge. From this, children were selected to participate in an exciting celebration of excellence in primary science event called SIMMS Science on Show at St Mary’s University.

As part of the celebration, the Berkeley winners competed against other primary schools to win the SIMMS Primary Science Award for Mastery in Science.

Anusha Malik, Tashveen Dhawan, Pari Mahmotra, Ashvika Jaitly and Kawneet Chopra from Year 4 and Shahmeer Haidery, Abhijeet Grover, Nesaar Amiri and Abdikafar Mohamed from Year 6 were chosen to take part in this fun-packed day; children took part in interactive trials, science demonstrations and marvelled at an exhibition of competition entries.

We are pleased to announce that the group of very enthusiastic girls from Year 4 were rewarded 2nd place and won an exciting goodie bag, as well as making staff and pupils at Berkeley Primary School very proud.

The judges were extremely impressed by the creative idea of a puppet show to exhibit their knowledge about the digestive system and feedback included, ‘I enjoyed the puppet show very much. You girls should be on an educational TV show!’

The group of boys from Year 6 also received a special mention from the expert panel. They were complimented on their excellence in scientific knowledge and very clear explanations.

Once again children from Berkeley have shown their outstanding learning and presented themselves as budding scientists.  Well done to these very special winners!
